We are thrilled to announce the launch of two incredible drone products—our new modular drone and our upgraded Eagle drone. If you have some experience with STEM and coding, you can now use these drones to take your skills to new heights. Ready to explore how things work? Now, let’s see what these two drones look like, what features do they have, and how we can use them.

Modular Drone: Customize Your Own Drone

If you are looking for a drone that can keep up with your boundless creativity, this modular drone is perfect for you. With an integrated controller, eight ports, and four separate propellers, the drone has a variety of exciting and inspiring features:

Customizable design

This is the most special and exciting part of this drone. Its modular structure lets you disassemble and reassemble parts to suit your project needs. You can add beams, connectors, gears, wheels, or even decorative parts to change its shapes.

The four propellers on the drone are also detachable. This makes a whole lot of things possible. For example, if you prefer something on the ground, like a cart, you can remove all these propellers and install wheels instead. When building the drive system for the wheels, you can connect motors to the motor ports, or you can do something even more innovative—using wind to power the cart. You can install propellers at the back of the cart. When they spin, the cart moves around.

One thing to note is that you can install not only the four propellers in this drone kit. If you have bought propeller kits, motors, or servos from our other products before, you can also add them because this new modular drone is compatible with a variety of our drive parts and has as many as six motor ports for drive systems. Also, the detachable parts of this drone are highly compatible with all WhalesBot product series. With this modular drone, there are countless ways to mix and match parts to create your own unique designs. There are countless ways to reuse what you already have and make our planet Earth a better place to live in.

Stable flight

The drone has a built-in gyroscope and barometer to keep it steady in the air, making it a reliable platform for your aerial projects. Whether you're testing a new sensor configuration or experimenting with navigation skills, you can trust this drone to maintain a stable and predictable flight path, and focus on your project goals.

Versatile ports

The controller provides six motor ports and two I/O ports that are compatible with a wide range of sensors and actuators, like motor, flame sensor, gesture recognition sensor, infrared sensor, grayscale sensor, four-digit display, and dot-matrix display. This makes the drone more agile and more sensitive to its surroundings, and more intelligent to run complex tasks like line following.

Upgraded Eagle Drone: Carry Your Creativity to New Heights

Have you ever wished for a drone that can handle more complex designs and heavier payloads? Here’s our upgraded Eagle Drone, designed for young inventors who aren't afraid to build whatever they dream about. The upgraded Eagle Drone comes with a host of improvements that will elevate your STEM projects:

Powerful propellers

The larger, more robust propellers generate more thrust, allowing the drone to lift heavier loads and maintain stability even with added weight. This means you can now incorporate more complex structures, mechanisms, and sensors into your drone designs without worrying about sacrificing flight performance. For example, you can build a drone that lifts a small robotic arm or even carries a mini weather station.

Built-in smart modules

Similar to the modular drone, this one also has a built-in gyroscope and barometer for steady flight. The difference is that, this one has more built-in smart modules, including a laser ranging sensor and an AI image module. This means that your drone is more reactive to things around. If there’s an obstacle in its way, it can hover, fly back, or dodge the obstacle as you programmed. The AI vision module helps your drone recognize AprilTags on a field, making it understand where it is. This precise locating is really helpful in drone contests, where drones need to fly to specific areas to finish tasks.

Expanded attachment options

Apart from all these built-in smart modules, this drone also provides you with two I/O sensors to attach various sensors or actuators to your drone, including motors, flame sensors, gesture recognition sensors, infrared sensors, grayscale sensors, four-digit displays, and dot-matrix displays. This gives your drone a whole lot of functionalities and makes complex coding possible.

Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators

Why do we produce these two products? As a solution provider for STEM education, we keep innovating and are constantly upgrading our products to satisfy users’ diversified needs. From many feedbacks and case studies, we’ve learned that many STEM learners appreciate the building and coding features of our drone, and want to have more customization to unleash their creativity. At the heart of our new product is our commitment to empowering STEM learners who have already begun their journey and are eager to take their skills to the next level. These drones provide:

Platform for innovation

With customizable designs and advanced features, these drones allow students to unleash their creativity and bring their unique ideas to life. Through the process of designing and building their own projects, students gain a deeper understanding of engineering principles, think outside the box, and develop a growth mindset that embraces challenges and learns from failures.

Hands-on coding experience

By pairing the remote control with a device running our coding software, students can code and fly your drone. This hands-on approach to coding helps students bridge the gap between abstract concepts and real-world applications, making the learning process more meaningful and memorable. As students build code to control their drones and integrate various sensors and modules, they develop computational thinking skills and gain confidence in their ability to create functional programs.

Endless project possibilities

The versatile sensor ports and built-in smart modules allow users to create complex, feature-rich projects that require advanced coding, from autonomous flight to data analysis. This wide range of project options allows students to explore various STEM disciplines, such as robotics, computer science, and data science, and discover their areas of interest. By tackling increasingly sophisticated projects, students can progressively build their coding skills and gain exposure to industry-relevant technologies and techniques.

Freedom to experiment

The modular design and expanded attachment options give users the flexibility to tink, experiment, and create projects that showcase their inventiveness. This freedom to experiment encourages students to take risks, learn from their mistakes, and iterate on their designs, which are essential habits for success in STEM fields. By providing a safe space for experimentation and innovation, these drones help students develop resilience, creativity, and a passion for lifelong learning.
